Teaching Water Safety and Teamwork Through Storytelling
Irelyn and Maile are high school juniors who have grown up in a beach community their whole life. Both have participated in water sports and activities, which has sparked a passion for spreading awareness about water safety. They hope to educate young people and society about the unknown dangers of prolonged underwater breath-holding.
Finley Jackson is a fourth-grade student-athlete from Augusta, Georgia. He has loved swimming and water sports since he was a toddler and spends most of his free time in or around the water. The Underwater Hypoxic Blackout Prevention Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of shallow water blackout and promoting water safety. As the driving force behind ‘Take A Breath, Seth!’, the foundation uses storytelling to educate young readers about the importance of teamwork and safety in and around water. With a mission to protect lives through education and prevention, the foundation aims to ensure that both children and adults understand the risks of breath-holding games and the importance of staying safe while swimming. Through Seth’s story, the foundation continues its vital work in making water activities safer for everyone.
